Spring Birdsong

The sweet song of the Willow Warbler greeted me on the patch today – one of favourite bird songs to hear in Britain, and one that I eagerly await in the spring.

This individual was in a willow along the River Len valley, an area in the park I rarely record them but does look ideal for the species.

Other birds of note were: 5 Green Woodpeckers, 6 Goldcrests, 8 Chiffchaff and 6 Blackcap.

On Saturday I had a Dawn Chorus Walk, and then a general bird walk, around the Hucking Woodland Trust Estate on the North Downs.  This woodland and grassland site is a wonderful place to explore!  Species of note from 5am to 11.30am were Tawny and Little Owls, Kestrel, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Marsh Tit and Yellowhammer.
