Winter Bird Identification
This nine-week bird course, run by tutor/organiser: Simon Ginnaw, will provide you with insights into the identification of birds in Britain during the winter season. You will spend each evening looking at different bird species in taxonomic order, one-by-one and comparing when needed. Plumage details, structure and movement will be discussed to help you improve your birdwatching. Enjoy a light-hearted look at bird identification from the comfort of your own home.
This course will consist of 9 evening classes via Zoom, from 7.30pm to approximately 9pm, using photos, illustrations, videos and sounds to bring the fascinating subjects alive. Simon will not be producing hand-outs for this course, but you are encouraged to have an identification guide to hand, such as the Collins Bird Guide, and a notebook throughout the course. Each evening will consist of approximately 75 minutes of interactive class sessions including descriptions by Simon and identification quizzes, with a 15 minute break half-way. The evening will conclude with a summary of our regions bird sightings and other wildlife interest to look out for over the week ahead.

Discovering Bird Sounds
This six-week bird course, run by tutor/organiser: Simon Ginnaw, will guide you through the wonders of bird sounds and how to learn them. Simon will offer hints and tips on how to get started with learning bird songs and calls, followed by time listening and learning these beautiful and varied sounds. Each session is packed with hints and tips.
This course will consist of 6 evening classes via Zoom, from 7.30pm to approx. 9pm, using photos, illustrations, videos and sounds to bring the fascinating subjects alive, with hand-outs given throughout the course via email. Each evening will be very interactive, with lots of listening to sounds, followed by discussion where appropriate. There will be a 15 minute break half-way, and some identification quizzes. The evening will conclude with a summary of our regions bird sightings and other wildlife interest to look out for over the week ahead.
